When doing some work, I’ve been struggling with frequent temptation to digress–Youtube, Facebook, news, and the list goes on. As such, I decided to use two Google accounts, one for work only and the other for personal life. Furthermore, I made two desktop accounts or installed two different OS for every PC, for the same reason. The work-only account is named after my English name, where my conscious self must prevail; and the other after my Korean given name, where my unconscious self is allowed to come out.
Using these tricks, I managed to create mental distance when using computers, just as we have physical distance between a workplace and home. I still have a problem that too many accounts are entangled with the Google account I’ve been using, but, I hope to become more capable of achieving work-life balance in this way.
